Some have inquired, what is the backstory of this work of art?
This painting was discovered by one of the founders of Mister Bandana, in an old wooden trunk, in an abandoned apartment in Zagreb, Croatia. It was the work of his father, who was a well-known commercial artist in the former Yugoslavia during the 1970s and 1980s. Their family used to live in the apartment, but they fled during the war of Croatian Independence in the '90s - and they left this painting behind.
Upon further investigating, we learned that the painting was commissioned for a book cover for an Eastern European Tarzan serial from the early '80s, now lost to the sands of time. The painting in turn is based on the original Tarzan drawings from the 1930s by the legendary American comic artist Burne Hogarth - but given a Yugoslavian makeover.
When we found this masterpiece in the attic, we knew it had to become a bandana. And we are thrilled to share the finished product with you.
These are so much nicer than I expected.
Soft, super-nice printing, just perfect.
They are for my daughter’s birthday which is a couple months away yet, but I know for a fact that she will love them.
Thank you, Mr. Bandana! You have a terrific product there!!
